# Show your website in search engines

Websites are hidden from Google by default. One switch lists yours, or hides it again.

All collections: [Event website](https://app.ueventi.com/docs/en/event-website)

A new website is hidden from search engines. Only people who have the link can open it, and Google is asked not to list it. If you'd like people to find your website by searching for your names, turn on **Show in search engines**.

1. Open **Website** and go to the **Settings** tab.
2. Under **Visibility**, turn on **Show in search engines**.
3. That's it. The page now tells search engines it may be listed, it's added to our sitemap, and it appears in the [events directory](https://app.ueventi.com/docs/en/articles/the-events-directory).

## How long it takes

We tell Google right away, but Google decides when to visit. A new website usually shows up in search within a few days to a few weeks. Turning the switch off removes the website from our sitemap and the directory immediately. Google usually drops the page within a few days of its next visit.

## What is never public

- Your guest list, phone numbers and RSVP answers. These stay in your dashboard only.
- Personal invitation links. Search engines see the website without a guest, exactly as a visitor without a link does.
- Your draft. Only the published version of the website is online.

> **Note:** On a custom domain the switch works the same way: search engines see your domain, not the ueventi.com address.
